Spring Update

Well, I have not had the best week. On Monday morning about 3 a.m. I had what turned out to be Afib. I had no idea what was happening, so I called 911 and took my first ambulance trip to the ER. They released me with new medicine and followup instructions.
I saw my regular doctor and then Friday had an echocardiogram. Turns out I have aortic stenosis and will need my valve replaced soon. I am feeling back to fine but the diagnosis allows no chance for this to cure itself...

You know..... I did not ever in my 66 years feel mortal until Friday morning when the doctor [who is a kind young man who brings his 16 year old Golden Retriever]  told me he was sorry to tell me this. There is a newer process called TAVR to replace valves without open heart surgery... so....

I am hoping to get my spirit back up to par... My son is hopeful, and so am I... much worse news could have come my way... Since no lifestyle choices cause this issue, none can really improve it. However, better healthy habits are always a plus!

So on happier notes... we had a fun Mother's Day. Ready for another week. I am to wear a monitor bag for 30 days. Sounds just crummy to me. Lol... so much for ending on that funny note!

We did get a neat surprise. Instacart left us a huge order by mistake on our front porch instead of our tiny one! We were told to keep it, our order was replaced, and they gave us 10 dollars credit for our "trouble"! Hope the delivery person doesn't get fired!
Take care! This is Mom's baby dress!

So is this beautiful lavender comforter the item that was delivered by mistake? It is really gorgeous!! I am so sorry about your diagnosis. But I have heard wonderful things about TAVR, it is so good that you were diagnosed now, when this is available, instead of years ago. I have worn heart monitors sevral times; it is not as bad as it sounds. Please let us know when your procedure is scheduled, and I will be praying for you!

I am so sorry this has happened to you. But how lucky they were able to discover it in time to fix it. Your doctor sounds just wonderful and I wish you all the best during the procedure and recovery. I know you must be very nervous with all that is going on and I hope you can get some rest and peace.

I can only imagine how you feel, but I know when I broke my arm last year (age 63), I feel that was a turning point in my life. I had to completely rely on my husband to help me with everything from bathing to dressing to eating and even getting up from a chair. I still don't have the range of motion or strength in that arm and it really affects decisions and plans I am making for the future. Getting old is a complete bummer but the alternative is worse!!

I had my first ambulance ride, too. Totally an experience we could have done without, right?

Prayers.

Oh Gayla! You must have been so afraid. I'm so sorry to hear this. But you know that the doctors have seen this before and they will be able to fix you up. Still, it's a scary thing and a huge nuisance! I have had only one ambulance ride and it was so long ago and for something so minor, it doesn't even count. But I sympathize with you wholly and will keep you in my prayers, I promise. Your mother's baby dress is precious. The fact that you HAVE it is precious! It brought a tear to my eye. xoxo
