New cool kid in town!

We found a refrigerator. I think it is a little smaller, and it was available today... It seems icy cold... no way will it be here 25 years like the last one. Lol... I was sad to see it limp out the door because my dad had bought it....

I like it just fine. If I become super healthy, wealthy,  and wise and open up the house to huge parties... I will wish for a bigger one... but for just us two... it seemed great to get this at about one-half the price.
Have a fun week!

One More Week!

June arrives in just a little over a week! Who else feels as if we just stored away Christmas?

This was my kitten a few years ago...
And again... a favorite spot even now.

what is on my radar? I believe we must get a new refrigerator... wow! Those are expensive! Mom and Dad bought this one in 1990's... it has just worn out! <3

Looking Ahead

Today seemed just perfect for decorating for the Summer Patriotic Holidays. The skies were gloomy, and we were besieged with heavy rains and winds... My son was busy in his room all morning, so I just happily scooted around the tote of Red, White, and Blue, and officially said hello to the summer. This little bear was dressed by a good friend of Mom's, and she perches on an afghan I made for my dad many years ago. I used Heartland bulky yarn, and I love it except it has never stopped shedding on everything.

My son was most impressed with the flat spaces that appeared..  He loves space, and my style of living seems to inhabit every flat space in the house.

This is my mom's  childhood doll holding a photo of our American Princess, Shirley Temple. She sits in the corner of the kitchen right now and helps me cook and clean.

My mother and grandmothers made and quilted this during the Bicentennial.  I remember my gramma was never a fan of  buying fabric for a quilt.  She thought it should be made from scraps of worn or unloved clothing. However, my mama wanted this, and it is so cheerful to me right now.

I made this a few years ago. I almost forgot to get it out this month!

My dad would have loved this advertisement! He was such a patriot and also a telephone retiree and collector.

Main Street USA... I festooned a few banners together that came from good friends for my birthday. Think maybe Hobby Lobby???

My son is seven years old in this photo...  I love it!  I cannot believe he is going to be 40 his next birthday. I still see this little guy whenever we are laughing hilariously over something or other.

Have a wonderful week!

Little jobs

Hello! Each chilly day brings us one day less of extreme summer swelter. But wow! It is going to be in the 30's again this week at night... I love ๐Ÿ’˜it!
I had to put my Muggs monkey back in the glass cabinet. For some stupid reason my cat decided this monkey had to go. She was obsessed and even tried to nibble! I don't think I'd ever yelled at her before.... but I sure took the roof off on this one!
This is how we journal most mornings... a little too much help!
Tomorrow we are going to prepare pineapples, grapes, blueberries? strawberries, and heirloom tomatoes in the dehydrator! That bonus Aldi delivery left us with a ton of fresh fruit...

Talk soon!

Spring Update

Well, I have not had the best week. On Monday morning about 3 a.m. I had what turned out to be Afib. I had no idea what was happening, so I called 911 and took my first ambulance trip to the ER. They released me with new medicine and followup instructions.
I saw my regular doctor and then Friday had an echocardiogram. Turns out I have aortic stenosis and will need my valve replaced soon. I am feeling back to fine but the diagnosis allows no chance for this to cure itself...

You know..... I did not ever in my 66 years feel mortal until Friday morning when the doctor [who is a kind young man who brings his 16 year old Golden Retriever]  told me he was sorry to tell me this. There is a newer process called TAVR to replace valves without open heart surgery... so....

I am hoping to get my spirit back up to par... My son is hopeful, and so am I... much worse news could have come my way... Since no lifestyle choices cause this issue, none can really improve it. However, better healthy habits are always a plus!

So on happier notes... we had a fun Mother's Day. Ready for another week. I am to wear a monitor bag for 30 days. Sounds just crummy to me. Lol... so much for ending on that funny note!

We did get a neat surprise. Instacart left us a huge order by mistake on our front porch instead of our tiny one! We were told to keep it, our order was replaced, and they gave us 10 dollars credit for our "trouble"! Hope the delivery person doesn't get fired!
Take care! This is Mom's baby dress!
