Not the Year with no Cookies!

I'm waiting on time for my son to be off, and then we will head in my beautiful blue car (my mother insisted I buy) to see her at the hospital. She looks strong on the chart, but she looks rather fragile in person.

I do want to share a cute story about Mom and Christmas. We had such an ordeal with our electrical power due to an error from the power company. We had no power all day Christmas Eve. So many trucks and employees worked diligently to fix it, and when the lights came on, I mentioned that I wouldn't be able to bake a batch of cookies. Too late, I said.

Mom said that was fine, but she added, "I'll always remember it was the Year with no homemade cookies."

I just laughed.

But late at night, actually in the middle of the night, it hit me that wasn't going to happen. I got up at two a.m. And made her favorites: Mexican wedding cakes. They are so fun to make, but oh so messy.

I happily crawled into bed leaving the surprise on the kitchen table. I couldn't wait for her to get up. She didn't come out until seven, which is late for her. I had been waiting since six. She was so tickled with the cookies. Come to find out, she had been dressed and sitting in her room for two hours waiting... So not to wake me up too early on Christmas.

Thank you, Spirits that got my tail out of bed to bake those cookies. It was the beginning of a perfect day.

Dear Gayla what a beautiful story for this cold foggy morning. It has melted the early gloomy bringing light and a renewed commitment to go the extra mile when it comes to make others happy.... Love you and praying for mom. Just came to check on you and see how she was doing. Blessings and peace to you.
