My Shabby, Little, French bath....

Up before Dawn, blue light from outdoors streaming through the windows. January has been beautiful to tuck away all vestiges of the holidays. Cool, clean... I love the look of the house after that first little tremble of naked shock. Space stands visible in the aura and wake that once was the magnificent tree.

The last traces of Christmas were allowed to inhabit my soft, pretty bathroom. My new pillow and my Old World pink Papa Noel...I've turned it into a little French country... Grays, pinks, pastels...a few laces, and old French Rooster tins that help me tuck way soft, fluffy towels and fresh laundry... My Parisienne flair is a work in progress. Not sure why I fell into the Francophile obsession, but long before I moved in with my mother I was devouring all kinds of books about living French.

My room at school, although I taught Spanish, was covered with French posters, Eiffel Tower, the Paris skyline. I believe it all can be traced to the time I fell in love with a little French town....  In Chocolat. I inhaled Vianne in one wild transfusion... Voila! The metamorphosis was complete.

This little picture of the "Veterinarie" is a smaller replica of the huge advertising poster I had at home and at school! Don't you just love the spirit of that woman with her animals...  I love its subtle color, the pretty kittens on her shoulder...

So, a collage of French posters is in the wings for one wall, and other little touches as I come to them... There is way too much color in here for the truly shabby chic heart...  But you see, I learned... I'm not truly any one style...never wholly pastels and whites as the truly Rachel Ashwell beauty... Not really primitive all the way... But not truly elegant, nor Old World, but a gypsy combination of what I consider the best of all worlds... One teaspoon of a colonial, Tuscan, Victorian... 100% Moì!

Not going to win any prizes for interior design... Some days....just billows of laundry. Not French Laundry chic...But Missouri washday clutter! ... la bulle éclate......(The bubble bursts...)

Re: You comment in my blog... "I have a journal private blog,..."

What a great idea, for a place to rant a bit. Since it's private, no one else will read it, so you don't have to be afraid, you'll "be sorry" later, that you wrote such... Good idea.
