Homecoming Time...

Our town celebrates every August with a huge Homecoming Event which includes local and celebrity talent, baby shows, Queen Contest, parade, and many opportunities to meet together and visit. This morning was a Brunch at a local Pizzeria. I always try to make favors, and this year's were simple wedding favor boxes wrapped in patriotic ribbon and sealed with a sticker. My lunch was fabulous: five cheese ravioli Alfredo.... Oh, my.... Today was a road race marathon... 15 miles to the south and back for a telephone meeting and breakfast with Mom.... then 15 miles to the northwest and back for the brunch... then whew.... back 15 miles to the south and finally back home again for a dental appointment for Mom... This was good since gas is so cheap right now.. haha...

The program on Thursday night will also feature past queens, past twirlers (which I learned today is a lifelong skill... Once you ever learned to twirl a baton, you always can! alas! the opposite is also true... once you NEVER learned to twirl a baton, you NEVER can...) an alumni band... it sounds like a lot of fun. Our town is celebrating its Sesquicentennial this year, so an emphasis on the past seemed important.

It really sounds like fun. I haven't made up my mind if I'm going yet or not. I haven't been since 2004. I guess it's time huh? You need to slow down my friend. You'll be gettin' tickets if you're not careful. Ha. Ask your son, that outer road is a doozy!! heehee.

I love small town stuff like this. We have a fair at the end of the summer and we all look forward to it. You'll have to post some pictures. As far as being a twirler goes...I'm on the never learned list. Susan
