Photo from online local newspaper
Wow... we had so much rain last night. We had a huge storm at about eleven thirty and another "huger" one at about three a.m. All in all some of the local towns got eight inches or more Our guages showed five and a quarter... and our neighbors showed more and less, so we don't really know. I do know it over flowed our gutters and ran like Niagra into Mom's bedroom flooding her window sill and putting "tea" in her dolly tea party she had set up with antique dolls just inside the window. Needless to say, we were sopping with towels and moving stuff nearly all night. Today finds us kinda grumpy, achey, and just plain not good company.... This too shall pass... we still haven't experienced the terrors of the northern and river border cities and towns. Those poor people.
S o.... I took this photo of the sunset, clear and promising... A new night to refocus, replenish, retreat and regroup....
And our lilies for the sake of beauty... Aren't they beautiful... (Pay no attention to that dead stick behind them. It is a rosebush we have had since I was a little girl and we are giving it every chance to come out of it... haha.... but it won't.... so we will have to nip it off very soon....

I sat in front of your house this morning for 30 minutes waiting for the flood to cease. It was 6:25am, I was the 10th car. When they let us through, I was scared I wouldn't make it. I don't know how that Mustang made it in front of me. Those other towns just have to be totally lost.

Gayla, I see from my blog side bar that it's your BIRTHDAY today June 29.. Well darling I hope you have a wonderful day!
***Happy Birthday to you***
We too are getting hit with rain and flooding here in Ohio as so many are. My basement is a mess with water. I understand what you are going through. We've had rain for days and more on the way. BUT it could be so much worse, I'm very lucky.
Sorry about your Mom's bedroom.
Hang in there I wish you the best!
Blessings & hugs ~Mary~ :-}

I live in Missouri and we have been rained on much too much lately. I'm quite sick of rainy days and rainy nights! Have a great day! Twyla

I wish you could send some of that rain to California! I'm tired of the smoke-filled skies here!

I hope that was the worst of it for you!

Happy Birthday!

I was in your neck of the woods on Saturday. I was turned off hwy 24 where it was flooded between Huntsville and Salisbury so I took rte C to Bevier to get to 36. I wanted to find your shop but I was so late that I couldn't take the time to look. I saw a lot of garage sales, too, and I really wanted to get out and look!

We finally got some sweet rain Sunday afternoon and evening. Houston has had quite a bit this last week, but it kept missing our farm and we were dry dry dry. I sure wish we could capture some of the flood waters from others. I am glad that your damage seemed to be minimal. Get some rest and Happy belated birthday!
