S.N.O.W. D.A.Y.

It's official. My school calling tree person just called me; I called the next sleepy and grateful teacher, and I listened once to the alphabetical list just to hear the melodic sound of MY school on the list. Why do teachers love snow days? Because they are a gift from God. Today I would have done nothing at home if I'd been at school. So whatever I do, no matter how little, is an extra bonus. If I don't to jack frost!!! So what? I wouldn't have been anyway... That's how we see it, I think. So for now, with a nod and a wink, I'm headed back for an hour or so nap. And thanks to *reesie on flickr for this photo. I saw it and thought it was perfect for the day since we won't be seeing this sight here. I hope it's okay to use flickr photos like this??? If not, I apologize.

The best part of a snow day is staying in your pajamas and going back to bed! We don't get too many in New Jersey, but when we do...it is a celebration in our house! Susan

Ah, YES, I remember snow days in the southwest corner of Mich. Ours was a small, Christian school, where my husband taught/administered and I was the school secretary. Having five children, and always LOTS to do at home, I CHEERED whenever my husband came in to the bedroom after listening to the school closings report on the radio and said he'd phoned in our school, too. We'd close off our big kitchen/dining room, to keep all the draftiness in the other rooms, and there we'd "camp." I'd make cinnamon rolls and the kids would read, play games, drink hot cocoa and eat cinnamon rolls. Now living in the Southwest, where sunshine is the usual (lovely) norm, I savor the coziness of cold, rainy days - like today. We work from home, and the children are grown, so most days, it's just my husband and me, but WE still enjoy fresh cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa! I enjoyed your post today, Gayla. Have a wonderful Snow Day! Desert Lady

No snow days down here in Texas. Yesterday I was sweating my behind off as it was over 80. Today we had a slight cold front ...and it is already gone. Back up to 80 tomorrow. Humm - just does not feel like Christmas!
Snow days are truly wonderful. I LOVE them too!! I look forward to them in Michigan and so does my daughter.

Blessings,

Sher
I live in Ky. and I am praying to be snowed in for Christmas. Mary

Cute post... I know what you mean. Truly a gift--snowy days and school closings. Unfortunately, I'm not a teacher, and have to go to work on days like that. Yuck!

Enjoy the Season

Can't beat a good snow day! Where were they when I was a kid? Didn't seem like we got many.
