Food for thought

My cousin brought me a little brown sack from Hello Fresh. . I was surprised and delighted to discover how easy and fun it was to fix up this batch of soup.  Italian chicken sausage, orzo, kale, onion and carrot plus spices... I have no idea what it cost,  but... it would have served four, I think... it came with a ciabatta roll (which I gobbled! Lol.  Served one! )

She brought me something else to cook in another sack... I feel like I'm on a cooking show!
Yesterday I made a quiche with Parmesan and a hash brown crust.    Luckily I divided it into fourths and froze portions for another, less ambitious day... I love red pepper jelly on top.
My standard quiche recipe is to whisk 6 eggs, 1 cup cream, 1 cup milk or water (really any combination of those liquids equaling 2 cups)... salt, pepper, anything  chopped up meat or veggie. . Just any handful amount is fine... about 1 to 2 cups grated or shredded cheese... I usually save out some cheese for the top. . Crustless, pour in partially prebaked shell,  or evidently in a Supreme act of laziness (yesterday)  you can simply lay frozen hash browns  in patty form all over the bottom of a 9 x 12 and use that as a crust! Bake about 50 minutes or until brown and set at 350.
But... the stars of my show?  Coffee with my family.   Every day.
I had ordered a couple mugs through the years for myself of my grandfather's barn and my house as Daddy found her before restoration .. I've given these personalized mugs to everyone for a myriad of occasions. (New Gramma,  grads, newlyweds, tributes to parents. .) So I ordered some new babies for myself with my wonderful family... They're $12/ each from Wal-Mart... I don't really think that's terrible! Not to hold a perfectly preserved memory in my hands while I start or end my solitary morning.
The barn,  now gone.
A view of this house before sheer determination kicked in... and a Father's Day in the late 60s...
Mom and I celebrating two different birthdays (we shared the day)
My loyal men, Daddy and Gerred..
And a  personal fave..  my happy son showing off our handiwork in a project with my dad.
We made about 15 of these jack-o-lantern gifts.   Didn't save a one.  Lol...
Have a good day.

Mystery project is about two days from completion...
